It’s Wednesday and I’m still recovering. Not only physically, but also slowly coming down from that post-intensive dance high after a great event. What a spectacular event the 47th Festival on the Nile was! Thank you, Bobby Bernard, Melinda Cowen, and Vann Patacxil. (A special Thank You to Bobby for inviting me back to teach at Festival 14 years later!) Thank you to my Co-Queen, Gina Marie Newman (the name Gina means “queen” 😉)! Thank you to our fabulous Festival band: Mike Tahan, Tony Tahan, and Fadi El Sabeh. Thank you to all the vendors and thank you to all the dancers!
As the years roll on, dance trends, costuming, and our bodies change; but the one thing that remains unchanged is the love and excitement felt at Festival on the Nile. It’s just FUN. I truly enjoyed connecting with old dance friends and making some new ones. It’s amazing to me that some of these friendships were formed years ago in another city, and then we all moved to new places but still have a place to meet up: The Festival on the Nile! I really enjoyed the conversations with Jacqueline, Zhor, Zoe, Neva and Phyllis, Belda, Karen Sun Ray, Zenobia, Angel, Lory, Bipin, Elviza, and a whole lot of even more new acquaintances. People kept giving me cool things/love/support all weekend. Thank you, Neva and Phyllis, for the midnight glasses of wine and snacks and Phyllis for the cool assuit face mask. Thank you, Michelle, for the nice Pilates treatment after class. Thank you, Karen, for the boiled egg in between classes when I was too tired to go anywhere to eat but needed just a little something for my brain and muscles. Thank you, Nadirah/Jacqueline, for the fabulous pink powder fortified with vitamins and minerals that I added to my water which energized me! (Hey, I need to get some of that, by the way.) Thank you, Zhor for the silver butterfly from your Friday performance which will symbolize for me not only your wonderful performance but our fun conversations all weekend. Thank you, Betsy, for the cute ceramic Sarcophagus! Thank you, Lady D and others who took after-show photos and sent them, to me. Thank you, Zenobia, for the amazing words of encouragement and positivity backstage before performance (“Bellydance Fluffer”, LOL); I totally will do this for my event! Thank you, Lory, for just helping me locate Melinda or Bobby and transporting me to and from the airport.
Again, thank you all for an amazing weekend packed with DANCE and LOVE.
